Springing into Activity: 3 Ways to Enjoy the Outdoors

The birds are chirping, and the flowers are blooming. With the arrival of spring just last week, it’s no wonder you’re itching to get outdoors and enjoy every minute of those long, twelve-hours days while you can! Spring is a time of rebirth and renewal, and that includes every aspect of your life. Tired of being indoors all winter? Here are three ways you can easily hike, run and jump your way to an active lifestyle. But hurry—the spring season only lasts until June.

Bond Over Basketball

There are many ways to bond with your kids—and each one poses a different opportunity to talk, connect and have fun. Bond with your kids over a favorite TV show and you don’t have much time to talk. Bond with each other over a game of basketball, and you talk, shoot some hoops and connect on a level you never could have while sitting on the couch looking at a screen.

Do you have a basketball hoop in your backyard but never use it? Don’t wait another second! Make this Saturday your first basketball day of spring 2014 and spend some much needed time with your son or daughter, while getting some exercise in the process.

Have a Jumping Contest on the Trampoline

Children enjoy different activities at different ages. But one thing that never goes out of style is trampoline jumping! Now that it’s spring, it’s a great time to sit, jump and do somersaults on your trampoline. Fix a special brunch for the entire family to munch on as you watch them engage in a friendly competition of trampoline jumping! Let each family member take a turn and score who got the most air time. The winner has to make ice-cream sundaes for everyone!

Take a Hike and Explore the Great Outdoors

When was the last time you enjoyed food, fun and adventure all in the same day? Now that the blues skies are upon you, there’s no time like the present to pack up a picnic and head to your local state park for a hike, a game of Frisbee and some relaxation with loved ones!

When you organize family time in the great outdoors, everyone is bound to have a great time enjoying the fresh air and sunshine spring brings.
