Spring Cleaning Tips to Eliminate the Clutter

Spring is only a couple weeks away—which means that your cluttered garage may be on your mind. Perhaps you’ve stared at the piles of boxes, equipment and trash in your garage and already though, “I’ve had it! I can’t stand this clutter any longer!”  Relax. We’ve got your fool-proof plan to ease into spring with a clean home. Let us help you by taking the chaos out of your garage and putting it all in your new storage shed!

Spend a Saturday Clearing Out Your Garage

There’s nothing worse than walking into your garage…and tripping over a rake, or stumbling over old boxes of your children’s outdated clothes. Spring time is the opportunity to schlep away the old in order to make room for the new—and your garage is the perfect place to start. If you’re like most people, the piles of old door mats, vinyl records and your kid’s old fish tank may bring back more of a need to procrastinate than it does miss the old times.

Spring is the time to clear it away to make room for a clean, empty garage you can enjoy! Donate what you don’t use anymore, and ‘help’ someone else in need. Build extra shelves for storage—for those things in life you can’t possibly part with. And, for all your knick-knacks you still don’t have room for, bring in a storage shed! Here’s how to do it:

Start by deciding what stays and what goes. One of the most difficult cleaning tasks of a cluttered garage is prioritizing your ‘stuff.’ What haven’t you touched in years? What is outdated? What offer sentimental value? Start by placing all the knick-knacks of your garage in sections: things you’ll keep, things you’ll give away, and things you’ll sell.

Build shelves for extra space. Over the years, you’ve accumulated a lot of stuff: vinyl records, stacks of magazines and books; and mismatched kitchen ware. Some stuff can be easily donated, but what do you do with those things you just can’t part with (no matter how infrequently you use it?)

Here’s the solution: don’t give your precious mementos up, and instead rethink how you treat the space you do have by putting up shelves along the walls. If you have a lot of things to organize, consider designating each shelf to something different.

One shelf can be for framed pictures and books, another for gardening tools and equipment, while another shelf can be for all those books from your college and post-college years. When you rethink the space in your garage, you can enjoy it in a whole new way…a better way!

Add a storage shed to hold all of your lawn equipment and seasonal items!

For many people, a garage just isn’t big enough to hold our vehicles and our lawn equipment, tools and toys. If that’s the case, a storage shed is the perfect choice. While being ascetically pleasing on the outside, it’s completely functional on the inside! Store your weights and cardio equipment in your shed, and if you’re a devoted health nut, convert your entire shed into a workout room! Move your camping gear to your shed, and free up some valuable garage space you’ve always wanted.
